Prepare large photos

  1. 1Add your photos and keep the selected 1 MB target.
  2. 2Choose a strategy and format; try Keep resolution when original dimensions matter.
  3. 3Process the files and check output dimensions before downloading.

Avoid unnecessary re-encoding

1 MB gives an image more room than 500 KB. A very large or detailed photo may still need re-encoding or resizing to fit.

If a file already meets the limit, its format is unchanged and no rotation is selected, the original is returned without re-encoding. Multiple photos are checked individually.

Questions about this size limit

What happens to a photo that is already under 1 MB?

When its format is unchanged and no rotation is selected, the original file is returned without re-encoding. Converting or rotating the image requires processing.

Is compression to 1 MB lossless?

JPEG and WebP re-encoding can change details even if dimensions stay the same. PNG uses lossless colour compression, but Automatic mode may reduce its resolution.
