Prepare a small image
- 1Add images and keep the 50 KB target, or enter a custom limit.
- 2Try JPG or WebP for photos. Keep PNG or choose WebP when transparency matters.
- 3Compress the files, then check fine details, file size and output dimensions.
When every kilobyte matters
50 KB is a tight limit for a large photo. Automatic mode may reduce width and height considerably to keep encoding quality within a more useful range.
Small text and screenshots need readable detail. If text becomes hard to read, raise the limit or choose Keep resolution; this strategy may be unable to reach 50 KB.
Questions about this size limit
Can a large photo fit in 50 KB without resizing?
It depends on its content and format. A detailed photo may not fit at its original resolution. Automatic mode tries resizing; Keep resolution tells you when the limit cannot be reached.
What if text in the image becomes too small?
Compare the output with the original. Increase the target size or keep the original resolution. PNG can work well for a small graphic with few colours.
